The Final Phase of Basic Education 

The Final Phase of Institute of Adult Education in Helsinki is aimed at students

• who have the study skills required at the Final Phase,
• whose Finnish language skills are at least on the level A2.1 and
• who have not completed the equivalent of Finnish primary school education in their home country.

Studying in the Final Phase

The Final Phase studies are approximately 1-2 years in duration and they entail 46-50 courses (á 28 hours) of studies in the Finnish language, English as A-language, Swedish as B-language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, history, social studies, biology, geography, health studies, religion (islam) or life stance education, guidance and optional courses. The Final Phase groups study Mondays through Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Fridays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

From the Final Phase one often continues into vocational studies or straight to working life. The aim of guidance is to find each student the most suitable forward path.
