Basic Education at the Institute of Adult Education in Helsinki

The Institute of Adult Education in Helsinki offers basic education for 18 year-old or older adult immigrants. The aim of the basic education is to prepare students for further studies or enhance possibilities to find work. We follow the curriculum of the Finnish National Board of Education in our basic education.

How to apply

You can apply to basic education all year round. The education terms start in August or January. If we don’t have any new groups starting or all our groups are full, your application will be placed on a waiting list. In case a place becomes available, we will invite you to a test. There will be advertising in various places when we have places available.

We also accept students who wish to study subject studies (for example maths, Finnish, English). If you wish to study singular subject studies, please contact our office.

Fill out the online application form or print an application form and send it scanned by email to peruskoulu@helao.fi or post it to Töölöntullinkatu 8, 00250 Helsinki.

Terms

We have entrance exams in December 2019 and in January 2020. New groups start on February 3 2020. Fill in an application and we’ll send you an invitation to the exam!
