We recommend downloading the Zoom app to your computer to take advantage of all the features. If you want to use Zoom on your mobile phone or tablet, you will need to download the free Zoom app from your device's app store. The app is free.
Test in advance
You can test your hardware for compatibility with Zoom in advance. Zoom can separately test the functionality of your camera, microphone, and audio.
- Do you see yourself? Can you see yourself? If the image is not visible, you can change the camera from the drop-down menu.
- Do you hear a ringtone? Do you hear a ringtone? If you don't hear a ringtone, you can change the headphones from the drop-down menu.
- Speak and pause, do you hear a replay? Speak something and listen. If you can't hear your own voice, you can check your microphone settings from the drop-down menu.
- Your device is working properly! If everything is OK, Zoom will report that your hardware is working properly.
Meeting joining options
- You will receive a link to the Zoom meeting via email. If you do not receive the link, please check your spam folder. Your teacher may also notify you through other means, such as in the learning environment.
- You don't need to worry about the Meeting ID and Passcode, the link will automatically direct you to the meeting.
- If you have the Zoom app downloaded on your computer, it will suggest that you join the meeting through it.

When you click on the link in your email, you will receive the following notification This site is trying to open Zoom Meetings. Scarf this and press Open the.

If you don't receive a notification, you can also open the meeting by pressing Launch Meeting. About the alternative Download Now you can download the app for yourself. You can also join the meeting without downloading the app by pressing Join from Your Browser.

Joining with the app
Click on the link you received and choose to join the meeting using the Zoom app.
Press Join with Computer Audiobutton to make sounds audible and to be able to use the microphone.
If you want, you can test the speakers/headphones and microphone by pressing Test Speaker and Microphone button. These test sounds are only for you, no one else in the meeting will be able to hear them.

If the meeting host has not yet arrived, Zoom will notify you that the meeting has not yet started.
- Please wait. Zoom refreshes the page every 5 seconds to check if the meeting has already started.
When the meeting leader has arrived, you will first be directed to the waiting room.
- Please wait patiently for the meeting leader to let you in. The text in the waiting room will vary depending on how the meeting leader has set it up.
Joining via browser
Zoom may ask for permission to use your microphone and camera. Scarf these so you can participate in the discussion.


Enter your name Your Name field. Use your first and last name so the meeting organizer knows who is present.
Sometimes the robot detection system may ask you to select things like cars or traffic lights in an image by clicking on the boxes that contain them. Complete the task to join the meeting. Zoom may also ask you to confirm that you are not a robot by checking the box. I'm not a robot -square.
Press Joinbutton. By pressing the Join button, you also agree to the terms of use of the application.
You can put the camera ja microphone on or off. You can change these even during the meeting.
Once you have entered the meeting, press again Join with Computer AudioYou can adjust your audio and video using the buttons on the bottom left.
Activities during the meeting

At the bottom of the app or browser is the Zoom action bar. Some of the actions can be found behind the three dots.
- Mute: Unmute or mute the microphone.
- Start/Stop Video: Starts and stops using the webcam.
- Attendees: You will see the participant list.
- Chat: You can open a conversation. In the chat, you can comment or ask questions. Type your message in the box at the bottom of the screen that says Type message here, press enter to send the message. You can send the message either to everyone (To: Everyone) or, if the meeting host has allowed it, to other participants or the meeting host privately by selecting the name of the person you want from the list.
- Share screen: You can start sharing your screen.
- reactions: You can virtually signal by raising your hand (Raise hand), the meeting leader/teacher will see that you have something to say. Press the same button again when you have your turn to answer to turn off the signal. You can also, for example, show a thumbs up, clap or send a heart emoji.
- Leavenworth: You can leave the meeting.
- My name: By right-clicking on your name, you will open a menu where you can, for example, blur your background (Blur My Background), so that others cannot see your home, for example. You can choose a virtual background image (Choose VirtualBackground) or you can change your name if necessary (Rename).

Sharing your screen
If you want to share your screen with other participants, e.g. in a small group situation, start sharing with the icon in the action bar. Share screen button.
- You can choose whether to share your entire screen (your entire screen) or just a specific application (an application window).
- You can stop sharing your screen by pressing the "Stop sharing" button in the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Breakout Room
Participants may be divided into small groups by the meeting leader.
- You will either join your own small group automatically, or you will need to press the button on the screen. Join Breakout Room button.
The breakout room has almost the same functions as elsewhere in Zoom.
- Ask for Help -button, you can ask the host to visit the room if you have any questions.
- Leave room You can leave the room by pressing the button (if the meeting host has allowed you to leave the room in the middle of the meeting).
- You can also leave the entire meeting by selecting the Leave room button. Leave meeting.
- Cancel exit Cancel button.
The end of small group work is usually announced in a window that tells how much time is left.
You can continue working in groups until the end of the time, at which point you will be automatically directed to the main room, or leave the breakout room using the “Leave Breakout Room” button.
Problem solving
The sounds are not coming from the headphones but from the machine.
First, make sure your headphones are connected to your computer. In Zoom, open the audio submenu by clicking the button to the right of the Mute/Unmute button. Select your headphones from the menu.
You only see a small screen in Zoom
Hover your mouse over the small box, an action bar will appear at the bottom. Click the “Exit minimized video” icon on the right side of the bar.

Exit full screen mode by pressing the esc key on your keyboard.
If nothing works
If nothing seems to help, restart Zoom. If that doesn't seem to help either, restart your computer. If that doesn't help either, feel free to ask your teacher for help!
