Using Teams with a browser
Joining a meeting/get-together
- You will receive an email invitation to the Teams meeting.
- The email will contain a link to the meeting, which you can click to participate.
- When you click on the link, a window will open in your internet browser asking how you want to join the meeting:
- Download Teams (workplace or app) means that if you want and you have a Windows machine, you can download the application.
- Continue with this browser means you can also participate without any installations.
- Open Teams (work or school) means that if you already have the Teams app, you can use it.

Initial Teams settings
- Teams may ask for permission to use your microphone and camera.
- Please allow these to participate in the discussion.

- Next, you will be asked to provide a name. A first and last name is usually good so that the meeting leader knows who is present.
- You can also turn the camera and microphone on or off. You can also toggle these during the meeting.
- Participate in the meeting by pressing the Join button.
- It is possible that the meeting organizer has not yet arrived and you may be placed in a waiting area. Please wait patiently and you will be allowed in when the meeting starts.

During a meeting/rendezvous
- The basic view shows the meeting participants either by their initials or their faces if they have video on.
- The meeting host can also share presentations, show videos, or other content from their own computer that is displayed in the basic view.
- Participants can also share their own screen.
- Participants can also discuss in written form during the meeting or, for example, ask questions by referring to the presenter.
Control bar functions
The control bar has different functions. The control bar may be in a different location and the buttons may be in a different order depending on whether you are using Teams in a browser or an app. However, the functions are exactly the same.

- People: shows the participants attending the meeting
- Discourse: displays the meeting conversation, or chat. In the conversation, you can write messages that are visible to other participants.

- The message is written in the box at the bottom. Write a new message.
- The message is sent by pressing the arrow icon below the text box.
- You can close the conversation by clicking the cross at the top of the conversation window.
- The chat menu below the text box has additional functions. You can, for example, edit the font, attach files to the chat, or add emojis.
- Reactions: by raising your hand, you can, for example, virtually signal, the meeting leader/teacher will see that you have something to say. Press the same button again when you have had your turn to respond to turn off the signal. The raised hand will also be visible in the participant list. You can also, for example, show a thumbs up, clap or send a heart emoji.
- Add (three dots): You can find more settings in the menu. You can adjust device settings (for example, the headset and microphone you are using, if you have more than one), switch to full screen mode, or even block incoming video if you have a poor mobile connection.
