Purpose of processing

The purpose of processing personal data is communication and marketing.

Processing basis

The right of Helsinki Adult Education Centre to process personal data as a data controller is based on the consent and/or agreement of the data subject.

Recipients of personal data

Personal data in the newsletter is processed by staff whose job description includes marketing and communications.

Disclosure of personal data

The information in the register will not be disclosed to external parties for direct marketing, market and opinion research, civil registry or genealogical research.

The information will not be disclosed outside the EU or EEA.

Personal data retention periods

Personal data will be stored in the register until the data subject requests that their data be removed from the register or until an error message about an invalid email address is received. The data subject can remove themselves from the register via the link in each newsletter.

Rights of the registrant

The data subject has the rights set out in points 1–7 below to access, rectify, restrict, erase or transfer information concerning him or her, as well as the right to lodge a complaint regarding the processing of his or her personal data:

  1. The right to request access to their personal data and to check what information about them is stored in the controller's records;
  2. The right to request the rectification or erasure of incorrect or inaccurate personal data concerning him/her;
  3. The right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data;
  4. The right to object to the processing of your personal data (by prohibiting its processing, for example, for direct marketing, market and opinion research, or for the purposes of civil registration or genealogy);
  5. The right to request the transfer of personal data to another system in a commonly used format (the right only applies to data provided by the data subject himself/herself);
  6. The right to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data;
  7. The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

The request or claim referred to in points 1-6 above must be sent in writing and signed to the address of the Union of Civil Servants' Organisations, Runeberginkatu 22–24, 00100 Helsinki. It must state the name, personal identification number, postal address and telephone number of the data subject. The response to the request will be sent to the address verified in the data subject's population information system. The controller has the right to carry out identification measures to the extent necessary before sending the data. A request for inspection or a claim regarding the processing of data can also be submitted in person at the above-mentioned address, in which case the data subject must present an official document for identification (identity card, driving license or passport) upon request.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

A complaint to the supervisory authority shall be made in the manner instructed by the competent authority directly to the authority, which in Finland is the Data Protection Commissioner (http://www.tietosuoja.fi/fi/).

Whether the provision of personal data is a statutory or contractual requirement or a requirement necessary for the conclusion of a contract, and whether the data subject is obliged to provide personal data and the possible consequences of failing to provide such data

The personal data has been obtained from the registrant regarding their participation in the course. Providing personal data is a prerequisite for handling the matter.
