Purpose of processing

The purpose of camera surveillance is to ensure the safety of the school's staff, students and other visitors to the school's premises, and to protect and prevent property damage. The registry data can be used to investigate crimes and incidents and, if necessary, to identify people who have been on the premises.

Processing basis

The processing is based on the pursuit of legitimate interests. The legitimate interests are based on the appropriate relationship between the data controller and the data subject, which is based on a customer relationship or on the fact that the camera surveillance is located in a property managed by the Helsingin aikuisopisto. The processing of personal data is necessary to achieve the purposes of the processing.

Personal data groups

Real-time video of people moving around the property and video recordings.

Recipients of personal data

Employees have access to camera surveillance based on their job duties.

The property's outdoor cameras are managed by AccessPoint Oy.

In cases of suspected crime, information can be disclosed to the police if they have grounds to obtain the information.

Transfers of personal data

The information will not be disclosed outside the EU or EEA.

Personal data retention periods

Recording is done on a hard drive, where the data is retained for 25 days, depending on the amount of footage. The cameras only record moving images, so the length of time recorded may vary.

Rights of the registrant

The data subject always has the right to request access to personal data concerning him or her from the controller, as well as the right to request the rectification or erasure of such data, restriction of processing, and to object to processing.

The request or claim must be sent in writing and signed to the address of the Finnish Association of Civil Servants, Runeberginkatu 22–24, 00100 Helsinki. It must state the name, personal identification number, postal address and telephone number of the data subject. The response to the request will be sent to the address verified in the data subject's population information system. The controller has the right to carry out identification measures to the extent necessary before sending the data. A request for inspection or a claim regarding the processing of data can also be submitted in person at the above-mentioned address, in which case the data subject must present an official document for identification (identity card, driver's license or passport) upon request.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

A complaint to the supervisory authority shall be made in the manner instructed by the competent authority directly to the authority, which in Finland is the Data Protection Commissioner (http://www.tietosuoja.fi/fi/).

Origin of personal data
