My psychotherapy training was integrative in its framework, which means that it combined approaches from different psychotherapy trends that have been proven to be effective in research and flexibly applied different psychotherapeutic methods. At the civic college, I have taught various courses related to psychological well-being on emotional skills, self-esteem, relationships and social tension.”

“The teacher was very knowledgeable and the course had a really nice atmosphere”
“The course was really good. It was very relaxing and exceeded my expectations.”
"A truly wonderful little Christmas at work: in the midst of all the hustle and bustle, it was important to stop and relax for a moment! The gentle sound of the singing bowls really relaxed me. I believe that singing bowl relaxation is an easily accessible way of relaxation, even for those who have not previously practiced various relaxation techniques. The atmosphere created by the singing bowls was very special and took the experiencer on their own journey. This was the best Christmas present!"

Regulation of the autonomic nervous system
Body awareness became a big theme in my life over ten years ago, when I was studying to become a yoga teacher at Vinyasa Yoga School Rishikesh in India. Since then, I have been exploring body-centered methods to increase well-being. This path has led me to, among other things, somatics, meditation, polyvagal theory, qigong, tantra, and contact improvisation. I hold a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Aalto University. Three years ago, I left my previous career in data science and software development behind. Since then, I have focused full-time on teaching body awareness. To develop my skills as a group facilitator, I participated in The Field Facilitator Training. Now, I am expanding my knowledge with the teachings of sensorimotor psychotherapist Buster Rådvik.

Artificial intelligence, mind, psychological games, etc.
I am a psychology and philosophy teacher and educational developer who is passionate about new learning and the possibilities brought by artificial intelligence. At Helsinki Adult Education Center, I offer short courses on psychology and an online course on artificial intelligence. I am the founder of Mastermind Work Oy and train adults, teachers and experts in the use of artificial intelligence to support everyday life and work. As a teacher, I want to encourage students to learn in a curious and insightful way. Artificial intelligence is not scary, but a tool that can free up time for thinking, creativity and humanity. My courses combine practicality, enthusiasm and a psychological understanding of learning.
Susanna Nurminen
Adult ballet and Klein technique
“I started my dance studies at the community college ballet classes in Rovaniemi when I was 7 years old,” Susanna says. “I graduated from the Theatre Academy with a Master’s degree in Dance Arts and later completed a Klein technique teacher’s degree. I became interested in the functionality of the body’s anatomical structure in relation to movement, and through the Klein technique I discovered the connections from the floor through the body to space. I learned to identify the body’s deep supporting muscles and their role as a lineman of our bony structure and a mover of the body. The ballet’s standing movement sequences provide a great opportunity to nurture the connections between the body’s bony structures. I enjoy working with adult students and feel that I can be myself naturally, without a strong role as a teacher. The interactive togetherness and sharing of things is truly rewarding. It is important to remember that getting to know our own body and its wisdom through movement brings pleasure. Regardless of how high the legs rise or twist open or how many pirouettes each person does, everyone has the right to fully enjoy the aesthetics of ballet.” Discover the office’s Venlan blog post about adult ballet beginner courses.

Alexander Technique
“I graduated from Jyväskylä in 1995 with a major in speech communication. I completed my Alexander Technique teacher training in Brussels in 2002 and my postgraduate studies in Paris in 2013. I completed my adult education pedagogical studies in 2024. I have been teaching the Alexander Technique in Helsinki, Brussels and Paris since 2003. I run an Alexander Technique teacher training school with my colleagues and teach private lessons in Kallio, Helsinki. The Alexander Technique examines the way we control our own actions. Making conscious choices is approached through anatomical facts, proven concepts, subtle manual guidance and functional methods. My teaching is concrete and encouraging, as well as dialogical and exploratory. My goal is for the lessons to be calming and empowering. I think that learning is a slow process that requires time and space for knowledge to sink in. We start by becoming quiet and creating a safe atmosphere. creation.”
