Asahi
Asahi is a Finnish health exercise that strengthens and relaxes the body and develops balance and presence skills. The movements are done standing or sitting with calm breathing. It is also suitable as a restorative and mobility-enhancing exercise in addition to other exercise.
Barre
Barre is a ballet-based form of exercise that combines mobility and muscle strength training. Classes use a ballet barre as a support, and the movements specifically target the buttocks, thighs and core. Mother-baby barre classes are also available, which focus on taking care of the mother's body while the baby is involved. Barre improves posture, mobility and strength.
Yoga
The institute offers a wide range of yoga courses. There are several different types of yoga, such as yin yoga, hatha yoga, iyengar yoga and kundalini yoga, as well as courses for seniors. The selection also includes laughter yoga and face yoga. Many of the courses are suitable for both beginners and those who have practiced yoga before. Gym and fitness
There are a variety of different exercise and fitness courses on offer. The courses include classes to improve general fitness as well as courses aimed at special groups, such as mothers working out with babies and seniors. The courses utilize various equipment and body weight.
Body care
The courses aim to relax tense muscles and improve mobility. The classes include warm-up, stretching and relaxation exercises. The courses are suitable for people of all levels of fitness.

Kung Fu
The course teaches the basic techniques and movement sequences of the Chinese martial art. The main focus is on the health effects of the art, along with the expression of dynamic power.
Fitness boxing
Fitboxing classes are effective workouts that combine boxing techniques and muscle conditioning exercises with dumbbells, kettlebells and rubber bands. Fitboxing also focuses on raising the heart rate and activating the muscles through punching techniques and sequences. Pair acrobatics
The course teaches the basics of pair acrobatics in a safe and inspiring atmosphere. Movements are performed both close to the ground on your feet and in the air on your hands and shoulders. You participate in the course with your partner.

Pilates
The purpose of Pilates exercises is to correct and improve body alignment, strength balance and mobility and to strengthen the deep muscles of the core. Clear and simple exercises based on the basic principles of Pilates are performed in a focused, calm and precise manner, guided by the rhythm of breathing. The movements effectively activate the deep muscles that support the body's natural posture. The exercises relax excess muscle tension and seek fluidity and flexibility in movement. Circus
There are courses for babies and toddlers with their parents, and as a new feature, for seniors. The baby and toddler courses focus on playing, lullabies, developing basic motor skills, and practicing circus skills. The senior circus, on the other hand, offers fun exercise that develops observation, reaction skills, and balance.
Spiral stabilization
Spiral Stabilization (SPS) is a unique therapy, body control and exercise method. The method is based on training muscle chains, improving posture and strengthening the body's core support. Its main goals are, among others. restoring muscle balance and optimal use of the body in everyday walking and movement.

Taiji
In this course, you will learn a dynamic form of meditation based on a traditional Chinese martial art. You will practice the basic movements of Taiji Quan, the Baduanjin series, and Qigong breathing techniques. The focus is on physical and mental well-being.

Senior courses and senior exercise Helsinki
Senior exercise is very popular! You can come to our weekly senior exercise class, senior yoga or senior pilates, or learn a completely new sport. Regular exercise helps to strengthen fitness and balance.
Mother-baby workout – Exercise for children and adults
For example, you can take a circus course with your child, where you move together and try out joyful circus acts: pair acrobatics, various equipment and tricks. The courses progress on the terms of a little acrobat, playing and singing. Moving together develops the interaction and body image of the child and the adult. The courses are about enjoying doing things together.

Mother-baby Pilates and mother-baby yoga courses
Mother-baby Pilates and yoga courses focus on caring for the mother's body on the baby's terms. The classes care for the body through movement, focusing on developing mobility, muscle strength, postural symmetry and balance.

College facilities Located with good transport connections, the courses are easy to get to. The courses are held at the university building on Runeberginkatu or in the center of Helsinki on Annankatu.

Remember
The lesson length is 45 minutes.
The language of instruction for the courses is usually Finnish. In many courses, teachers can also teach in English or another language. You can ask the student guidance office what language will be used in the course.
The facilities have all the necessary equipment, unless otherwise stated in the course information. Please bring your own clean towel to protect the exercise mat.
Remember to take care of your own insurance coverage, as the college does not take out insurance for students.
Distance teaching
Some of the teaching at Helsinki Adult Education Centre is organised via distance learning, for example using Zoom. Distance learning applications are easy to use and you can join the class from home. The link you receive will automatically direct you to the distance learning class.
