Super birthdays celebrated the 61st anniversary of Helsinki Adult Education Center and the 50th anniversary of Aktiivi-Instituutti

Almost two hundred party guests gathered on August 31.8st.2022 To the Helsinki Adult Education Institute Etu-Töölö to celebrate the combined 111 years of the two institutions belonging to the same organization.

The college's partners, representatives of stakeholders, and retired employees from over the years were invited to the celebration.

The celebration featured authoritative speakers

The greetings from the Ministry of Education and Culture were presented by State Secretary Dan Koivulaakso, after Minister of Education Li Andersson was unable to arrive due to the evening's budget meeting.

Deputy Mayor Nasima Razmyar offered her congratulations on behalf of the City of Helsinki's education department.

The event also included congratulatory speeches from STTK Chairman Antti Palola and TJO ry Chairman Sari Viinikainen. The toast was given by TJO Executive Director Kari Karvonen.

The party guests were entertained with captivating performances

Minna Hämäläinen, the education manager for the college's music courses, performed Heikki Sarmanno's beautifully jazzy songs with a trio consisting of Marius Pirhonen, Eemeli Männistö and Ilari Mäkelä.

At Hadassa Bellydance, they offered one of the most spectacular performances of the evening.

The Angata Ensemble set the rhythm for the celebration with their stunning performance of West African music and dance.

The audience in the ballroom was activated by the improv group Kallio, Scissors, Paper, consisting of Ilkka Kalliomäki, Jussi Rytkönen, Kati Tikkamäki and Johanna Torasvirta.

Tours led by old Norse maidens

During the evening, the celebrants were offered the opportunity to explore the renovated school building, which was built in 1923 as a girls' school. The old girls' school returned to the house for the evening to reminisce about their past school days and share stories about their old school with the guests participating in the tours.

Thank you to all the guests, speakers, performers and organizers! It was nice to see partners, old friends and new acquaintances face to face, reminiscing about the past and planning for the future.
